MRA Special is specially formulated blend of fatty acids, which gives superior performance to conventional mould oils. The fatty acids react with the water in the concrete to form a thin water repellant barrier, thereby enabling easy stripping of the formwork from the concrete surface. MRA is a milky emulsion with water and contains rust inhibitor to impart anti-rust, anti-corrosion properties and a biocide to prevent bacterial growth in the emulsion. This oil has superior cooling and lubricating properties which impart excellent surface finish and minimises tool wear.

Properties 

• MRA Special is a low viscosity, easily sprayable liquid or brush applied or with cotton waste.

• MRA Special is non-staining and is suitable for use with even white cement.

• MRA Special prevents rust forming on steel forms and can also be used to protect concreting plant after use

• MRA Special helps to reduce the cleaning time for formwork and concrete plant.

• MRA Special extends the life of the formwork due to the reduction of mechanical cleaning required.

• Allows air which would normally be trapped at the interface of the concrete and formwork to escape during vibration and reduces the incidence oil blow holes in the concrete face. This reduces the surface imperfections and also the need for remedial surface treatments at a later stage.

Application 

On new formwork, no preparation is required.

On used formwork, preparation as below:

• Steel, rubber and plastic formwork : All rust, grease and cement paste should be removed before application of MRA Special

• Wooden formwork: All adhering cement paste should be removed and the surface scraped to remove any old mould oil that may be present.
